The 2019 Passion Trust Conference is coming to Edinburgh, 11-12 October 2019. This is the first time it has come to Scotland and is being hosted by the Princes Street Easter Play Trust, which has been performing Passion plays in the city centre since 2005. It’s an inspiring event for all people involved in putting on Passion Plays or interested in getting involved. Directors, producers, actors, fundraisers, technicians and volunteers from all over the UK get together to talk about Passion Plays.
Participants will hear from the experts and get help and support from people who have been putting on the plays for years. There will be information on free support and resources from the Trust’s work with over 50 plays in the last 5 years. There will be tips for working with local councils and businesses and opportunities to network with other directors, producers and actors. There will be information about grants and funding available from the Passion Trust and personal advice and support from Passion Trust trustees.
There is an optional Friday evening event from 7.00pm to 9.00pm on 11 October (£10). This takes place in St Columba’s by the Castle in Edinburgh’s Old Town, with live music, drama, drinks and finger food
The main conference is on Saturday 12 October from 9.00am to 5.00pm (£55) in St Paul’s and St George’s Church, a wonderful conference venue in the New Town. Speakers include: Right Rev. Colin Sinclair (Moderator of the General Assembly), Professor Helen Bond (University of Edinburgh), Professor Jolyon Mitchell (University of Edinburgh) and Kamala Santos (script-writer). Workshops include scriptwriting, fight scenes, marketing and social media. Registration for the conference is via the Passion Trust’s website https://passiontrust.org
